A large home and historically very high energy costs Sidford Gower, Banbury

The Brief

Aspey Energy was originally contacted by Mr P because he had concerns his electrical energy consumption seemed very high.  He had a large house with a mixture of heating strategies combining oil and electricity and wanted to understand if we could both monitor his energy consumption and reduce his bills.

Solar Panels for Home

Ground Mount Solar Array

The base was installed and the solar and ground mount frame was fitted on to this. We then connected the system to the grid. (This final stage required the DNO to make any necessary changes to the connection.) After that it was all very simple for the family to carry on as normal, with the ability to monitor energy as and when they wished.

The verdict

The solar array system has been in for a year at the time of writing. Mr P’s household is now 60% self-sufficient, with only 40% coming from the grid. They have also now had a hot water device fitted to turn  excess solar energy into hot water in his hot water tank.
Mr P has the ability to see exactly how much energy he now uses 24 hours a day via the online solar platform, and the really good news was that the client had been previously vastly overcharged for his electricity and had a cheque back for over £2000 pounds from the enregy company who admitted this. A great start to the new system.

The project came in on budget with 9 years to recover initial costs. With a 25 year warranty on all equipment, he felt it was a good investment, and he is, most importantly,  reducing its carbon footprint.
